Three supposed images of the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 wearable fitness tracker have been leaked. The images originate from a popular Chinese social networking site and feature the wearable in switched-on and turned-off states. There is a distinctly visible capacitive button taking up a good portion of the narrow-bezel display.
Xiaomi’s Mi Band 5 fitness tracker may have just been leaked in a handful of images recently posted on the SlashLeaks website (see images below). It seems the photos were sourced from Weibo, and they show the upcoming wearable with and without an interchangeable wrist strap. When turned on, the display of the alleged Mi Band 5 reaches to the surrounding thin bezels, with only a capacitive button interrupting the screen.
Rumors that have been circling around the Xiaomi Mi Band 5 wearable included one that stated the successor to the popular Mi Band 4 could come with a 1.2-inch AMOLED screen. This would be a considerable step up from the predecessor’s 0.95-inch touchscreen. Clearly, if these are actual images of the Mi Band 5 then the star of the show is the practically bezel-less display.
The Xiaomi Mi Band 5 is also expected to offer NFC capability to users around the globe this time (not just limited to China). There have been some whispers that the wearable fitness tracker could be released in June, although there is no official release date or price tag yet. In comparison, the Xiaomi Mi Band 4 without NFC cost 169 yuan (US$24) upon launch while the variant with NFC support cost 229 yuan (US$32).
